Holy Update!

Ok so it has been a long time since I updated. I was on bedrest for almost 5 weeks. On January 22, 2010 I was admitted to Labor and Delivery for Preeclampsia. The plan was to keep the baby in as long as possible. I was 33 weeks 2 days. They wanted to keep him in at least 3 weeks. But they would be happy with 2. My body did not agree with that plan. On Monday 1/25/2010 my blood pressures were hitting dangerous highs. They decided to induce that night. They started the IVs and go tthe cytotek placed. My BPs continued to climb. They were planning on giving me pitocin on Tuesday and gewt it all going to get the little guy out. Tuesday morning they did an ultrasound because they didn't think they felt his head when they checked me. Well, they were right he had actually flipped transverse which is horizontal in the womb. So they consulted with my doctor who decided that a c-section would be the only way now. This was about 8 am. My doctor wanted to do another ultrasound to see exactly where he was so she knew where to cut. Well, our little gymnast had flipped completely breach now. This was actually more ideal for the c-section. They got me prepped and gave me a bunch of medications and got my spinal block and everything. Our baby was born at 9:38 a.m. at 33 weeks 6 days. He weighed 4 lbs 8 oz. He stopped breathing and went into respiratory arrest. The rushed him to the NICU so they could care for him better. He had inhaled so much fluid that he drowned himself. However, he only had the breathing tube in for a total of 8 hours and was never on supplimental oxygen. He was absolutely perfect. He was just tiny. He got jaundice which is common for preemies. After 13 days in the NICU we got to take our beautiful baby boy which we named Farren James Nielsen, home with us on February 8, 2010. Farren has grown 3 whole pounds and is now 2 months old and weighs 7 pounds 10 ounces. He is doing remarkably well for a newborn let alone a preemie. He is already holding up his head and cooing and looking at us and smiling. We are so happy with our new little addition to our family. We will try to keep posting more often.
